Â鶹ԭ´´ is committed to providing quality, affordable, education and supporting students and employees who require parking accommodations related to pregnancy.

Pregnant students and employees in their third trimester who are interested in applying for a state-issued temporary disability parking placard may apply through the Illinois Secretary of State using the following link .

Applications are reviewed by the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office to determine eligibility for a temporary disability parking placard. Under Illinois law, the placard may be issued for up to 90 days and requires documentation confirming the expectant mother has entered her third trimester (Public Act 102-0453, HB3027).

Students and employees who wish to inquire about parking accommodation specific to the Â鶹ԭ´´ campus may contact the appropriate office to discuss available options:

• Students should schedule an appointment with Disability Services.
• Employees should contact Human Resources.

If a temporary campus parking accommodation is approved, staff will complete the Temporary Accommodation Parking Permit Registration Form with the student or employee and forward it to Camus Security.  The individual must then visit Campus Security (Room C2177) to receive the decal.

Students and employees approved for a campus parking accommodation will be informed of:

• Where they may park on campus using the Â鶹ԭ´´ temporary parking decal.
• The requirement that Â鶹ԭ´´ temporary accommodation decals cannot be used in accessible parking spaces.
• The fact that accessible parking spaces require a state‑issued disability placard or license plate.

Â鶹ԭ´´ maintains parking and traffic guidelines to ensure safe and accessible parking across campus. These guidelines apply to all campus parking lots and roadways, including Lots A, B, C (Employee Lot), D, the Caukin Building lot, the COB/Early Learning Center lot, and the campus Ring Road.

All vehicles must park within marked parking spaces. Parking is not permitted in traffic lanes, fire lanes, restricted areas, or spaces designated for maintenance, staff, the Sheriff’s Department or accessible parking without the proper permit or placard. Vehicles may not drive on sidewalks or landscaped areas.

Lot C is reserved for employees. Employees who need to temporarily load or unload items may park for up to 15 minutes with hazard lights activated, but must receive prior approval from the Campus Safety Office.

The campus speed limit is 20 mph. Traffic violations such as speeding or failure to obey stop signs may result in citations. Parking and traffic enforcement is conducted through an Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, which provides law enforcement and security services on campus.

Vehicles parked in violation of campus regulations may be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense. Vehicles may also be towed if they block traffic, interfere with snow removal operations, or park illegally in restricted areas or fire lanes.

Parking violations typically carry a $10 fine, while traffic or moving violations may also result in a $10 fine. Unauthorized use of accessible parking spaces carries a $250 fine. Smoking policy violations may result in a $100 fine for a first violation and $250 for a second violation.

Fines must be paid within 15 days at the Â鶹ԭ´´ Business Office. Individuals who wish to contest a citation must submit a parking ticket appeal within five days of issuance. Appeal forms are available from the Campus Security Office or online. The Director of Campus Safety and Security will review the appeal and issue a decision within 10 days. If the citation is upheld, the fine must be paid within 15 days of notification.
