Makeup Tips For Great Lips

July 14, 2010 Posted by Admin

Nothing is more appealing than a sexy pout.  Nice lips are part of a great smile and will get you noticed as you meet people throughout the day.  Some of the main issues people have with their lips are dryness, cracking and bleeding. This occurs because the outer layer of skin is thin. Lip skin also does not have sweat or sebaceous glands.  The issues worsen as we get older.  The layer of skin gets even thinner and drier making the lips age faster than other areas on the body.

The commercial lip balms found in drug stores contain alcohols (menthol, phenol) and exacerbate dryness.  By their very nature they are built to be reapplied constantly.  To help smooth out lips find a product that exfoliates and protects.

A lip mask will help to slough away the dry skin and smooth out the surface of the lips.  A lip balm with ingredients of essential oils, such as vitamin A and vitamin E, set up a barrier to protect the skin.  Both products should also include antioxidants that protect the skin from free radicals.  Free radicals are in the pollutants in the air and speed up aging because of the damage they cause.

Once your lips are smoothed out it is time to put on a finishing touch.  There are many ways to do this but it all depends on the look you are trying to achieve.  Lip makeup comes in several forms. Lipsticks are solid and provide a creamy satin finish that is appropriate for day and night.  Liquid lip colors provide the color impact of a lipstick but goes on with the ease of lip-gloss and provides a semi-matte finish.  Lip-gloss provides just a hint of color but also a high shine factor.  A moisturizing tinted lip balm provides color, protection and a sheer matte finish.

Any of these cosmetics product can be found at better department stores and through professional beauty consultants and online.  If you follow these tips carefully you will cultivate a memorable smile that will last far into the future. Let them see you smile!
