Rembrandt was one of most famous painters of Europe and his full name was Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn.. He was born on 15 july 1606. He belonged to a very affluent family as his father was a miller. He received his primary education in the city of Leiden, but he was interested in arts. He left his studies to learn art from local painters. He soon became a master of arts and started teaching budding painters as well His pupils included famous painters Gerrit Dou and carel Fabritius. He came in contact with many art dealers but a relative of his wife saskia, who was an art dealer, got him in touch with many wealthy art lovers. He made oil paintings on mythology and religion as these painting were quite popular in those days.

Rembrandt had painted many art works in Amsterdam which was a very popular town then. His life was quite unfortunate and sad. His wife and sons died here and he declared himself a bankrupt. He had to sell his collections and other assets to pay off his debts but he continued his painting despite all hardships.

His had produced many master pieces during his life. His famous works include The Jewish Bride, Bathsheba, many biblical scenes and self-portraits. He died in Amsterdam on October 4, 1669 after 11 months of his son’s death.
